Cartoonist Notes
My first Use of Artograph and Hunt Quill Pen
This cartoon was my first use of the Artograph (A light box). I used to trace out the lighthouse from a picture I had taken at the Cabrillo National Park in San Diego of the lighthouse there. If you have never been there, it is a must see. When people visit, I always take them there. It is on the point of the peninsula that juts out over the opening to the harbor. You can see the ships sailing in and out, Coronado Island and the city itself. You basically can see how San Diego is laid out in spectacular fashion.
Once I had the lighthouse, I played on the fact that moths like light and turned my light keeper into a moth. It is also my first use of a Hunts quill pen tip 104 and Higgins waterproof india ink. You can see some of the lines are a bit choppy and I had to correct a few when I scanned it via computer art software. I am getting better with my quill pen though!
