DON'T KNOW WHY
When they planted
flowers and shrubs in the park
it must have been planned,
in their minds,
an image of a stunning garden.
But the next day, no one returned.
Such dreams of future beauty
grew unattended
into scattered foliage
of obvious disrepair.
We watch anonymous
from a favorite park bench
until one day I said,
"See how that child
plays so happy alone,
with only her imagination."
You leaned over
and put your arms around me.
It was only
a perfect moment.
