Cartoonist Notes
I wanted to make a little statement about the amount of trash floating around the ocean. There are some pretty massive piles of garbage floating about. It can have a pretty devastating effect on animals - the animals we eat. Check out this TED talk: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROW9F-c0kIQ
This guys simple idea is popping up in places like Baltimore's inner harbor where a garbage capturing barge picks up garbage using the natural current where garbage naturally accumulates: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5l7s6wC50g
I believe that people should be responsible and minimize their impact on the natural world. If we all come together to do this, it can make a massive improvement in our health and our lives. I lived in an area of California where you could see mountains but only on a "clear" day. Imagine how beautiful it would be to see them every day and how much healthier people would be if smog were reduced. 20% of children had asthma in that place. 20 percent! That is like a freakin plague but everyone just sees it as normal. Spiking asthma rates, diabetes, etc. and people act like anyone who wants environmental controls are crazy. If you can't see the common sense in keeping our environment clean, you are the crazy one.
