MODERN SNOW
Cold cell phones ring.
Spinning highway lights.
Press fast forward go.
Arriving home,
exhale and warm inside.
Woven into mittens.
Coco black kittens.
But it falls while you sleep.
Crawls into ice white,
crystal and still
and the transcendence wakes
with an open door.
A window shade pulled aside.
Nothing moves but the white
flaked trebling vision.
Cocooning the land in
a milk spilt slow motion.
Flakes dip with fresh,
constant malaise.
Frozen pelting sting.
Assault of beauty upon skin
slowly numbing life into stop.
Pause between a heartbeat.
The stars are falling
all at once.
But it has only snowed.
Only snowing.
