GOODBYE CITY
What happens when you drink too much wine?
Sublime tastes turn mundane.
Foreign tongues turn red, numb, musty
and so the vineyard after rain.
And such as old love after obsolete games.
After absent perfect lovers,
and forgotten names.
Such sad and longing faces yet invade.
Still staggering to stand
on gray chain link overpasses
and it's turning light blue morning
like some white unwedded crisis.
The black topped highway opens
in concentric circles expanding.
Through parallel sliding boxcars
and merging tail lights racing.
But considered for a moment
while loves moving off again.
It's yet to be discovered
where just you and I began.
